Poverty forces parents to send children to laborious work: Dr Nadeem

On the special direction of Dr. Tariq Fazal Ch, Minister of State, CA&DD, the National Council of Social Welfare in collaboration with UGood Pakistan, has organized a “2nd Round Table Conference for Consultation on Challenges Faced by Street Children in ICT”.
Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman, National Council of Social Welfare chaired the conference. Representatives of NGOs, Civil Society, child rights activities and officials of CA& DD, attended the seminar.
In his presidential address, Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman, NCSW said that owing to poverty, parents are forced to send their children to laborious work rather than to educate them. As we know that children play a vital role in the building of nation and developing human resources. The present government is fulfilling the needs of children and also making efforts to make them useful citizens of the country.
We should discourage the child labour working in automobile workshops, restaurants and in factories who are exploited by paying meagre wages. It is our collective responsibility to protect Child Rights and strictly ensure their enrolment in schools so that they may play effective role for the progress and prosperity of the country.
The representative of civil society and NGOs working on child rights i.e. Syed Ishtiaque Gillani, CEO, UGood, Mr. Hjaroon-ur-rhman, Representative of M/o, Human Rights, Mr. Waqar Haider Awan, CEO, CHRS, Mr. Arshad Mahmood, Mr. Israr-ul-Haq, Mr. Aftab Farooq and Ms. Rohila Bangash presented their proposals emphasizing that children are our future and their education and health should be focused and prioritised for the economic development of country.
