Rawalpindi—Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) flights are staring today (Saturday) to bring back some 52,000 pilgrims from Jeddah and Madina to 10 cities in Pakistan. The grand flight operation will continue until October 16 the concluding day of the Haj flight according to an announcement made by the national airline.
During this time, 126 special Haj flights will bring home pilgrims to Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sukkur, Multan and Rahimyarkhan, a PIA spokesperson said. He said that in addition to the special flights, PIA will also be transporting pilgrims on 125 of its scheduled flights during the same period. The spokesperson said that PIA Chairman Azam Saigol has directed all of the airlines’ departments to coordinate with one another during this time for the smooth transport of pilgrims. He is also said to have appreciated the efforts of all concerned as more than 92pc of pre-Haj flights were either on time or ahead of time.
