Karachi—Mr. Zahid Malik, the Editor-in-Chief Pakistan Observer has left us with his footprints providing a beacon for the faithful to serve the noble cause of Muslim Ummah, Ideology of Pakistan, transformation of the financial sector into Islamic Financial system and the noble cause of humanity which elevated his personality as an institutions making him immortal in the hearts of the people.
These heart-touching tributes were paid by a large number of prominent leaders and knowledgeable personalities gathered to pay homage to Zahid Malik at Quran Khwani and reference meeting organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at the Federation House here this evening.
Those who spoke on the occasion were included Saeed Ahmed Acting Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Maula Bux Chandio, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Information, SM Muneer, Chief Executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Senator Haseeb Khan, Khalid Tawab Senior Vice President FPCCI, Saadia Rashid Chairperson Hamdard Foundation, Yousuf Sheerazi Chairman Honda Atlas, Sirajuddin Aziz CEO & President Habib Metro, famous social worker Ansar Burney, Shehzad Dada President Standard Chartered Bank, Dr. Ishtiaq Baig, Javed Iqbal CEO CMS, prominent TV Anchor Aneeq Ahmed, and Faisal Malik, the Editor of Pakistan Observer. While Mufti Najeeb Khan offered Fateha Khwani and Dua-e-Maghfarat for Malik Saheb.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Haji Rafiq Pardesi, Imran Jofa, Anwar Aziz Jakartawala, Zafar Iqbal DHA President Residents Society, Brig Tariq, Capt. Iqbal Modi, Sami Khan Chairman CNG Association and Mariam Choudhry.
Speaking on the occasion Saeed Ahmed, Acting Governor SBP recalled his association with Mr Zahid Malik with glowing tributes to his untiring efforts for the promotion of Islamic Banking in Pakistan. He said that Mr Zahid Malik has a special place in his heart as the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced his appointment as Deputy Governor SBP right in the Round Table Conference organized by Zahid Malik in Karachi. In fact Mr Zahid Malik was not only a great supporter of Shariah Finance in Pakistan but he was an ambassador of Islamic Banking in all Islamic States of the world. His services for Shariah finance would be long remembered.
Maula Bux Chandio, Advisor to CM Sindh while citing the huge crowd leadership from all walks of life, said that this huge gathering of businessmen, bankers, industrialists and political leaders speaks for itself about the charismatic personality of Mr Zahid Malik who is still alive in the hearts of the people who have come here to pay homage by sparing their valuable time to attended this meeting. Allah Almighty blessed such people with a life forever. He expressed the hope that the legacy of Mr Zahid Malik would be kept alive by his sons Faisal Zahid Malik, Gauhar Zahid Malik and Umer Zahid Malik and other members of his family.
S M Muneer, Chief Executive TDAP in his short remarks said that Mr Zahid Malik was like an elder brother to him, since he was popular among the business community always used to come forward to mitigate differences among the business community. He assured that the business community would continue to extend its full support to Pakistan Observer in future as well.
Khalid Tawwab, SVP FPCCI in his brief remarks said that Mr Zahid Malik has left a legacy to hard work, honesty and his services for Pakistan and Islamic have earned a respectable place in the heart of business community which would always be supporting the mission of Mr Zahid Malik.
Sirajuddin Aziz, President Habib Metro Bank in his brief remarks described Zahid Malik as the soldier of Islam, due to his good deeds would be always live in our hearts, so using the word ‘late’ before his name would not be justified because people who live for a noble cause never die, his loving personality would always be felt around us.
Ansar Burney in is tributes said that Mr Zahid Malik was a good human though he is no more with us yet his presence would always be felt because of his good deeds.
Madam Saadia Rashid, Chairperson of Hamdard Foundation recalled her last meeting with Mr Zahid Malik a few days before his death at the Nazriya Pakistan Council meeting held on August 14, in Islamabad. She said that he was a fatherly figure and always, and he always used to take my phone calls even while he was admitted in hospital in China. She declared his departure as a great loss to the nation as well as Ummah.
Aneeq Ahmed, renowned TV anchor in his rich tributes said that Mr Zahid Malik was a true Muslim and a Pakistani. He recalled that Mr Zahid Malik used to describe Pakistan as the satellite of Madina Sharif as it came into being with the divine blessings of Almighty Allah and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) after migration of a huge number of Muslims of the sub-continent.
Earlier in his welcome address Faisal Zahid Malik, the elder son of Mr Zahid Malik, apparently was moved while remembering his loving father and his struggle for the cause of Pakistan ideology, Islamic and journalistic values. He pledged to keep Mr Zahid Malik’s legacy alive and would accomplish his mission.
