Polio free Pakistan

Sanaullah Samad

UNICEF Country Representative in Pakistan has predicted that through coordinated and collaborative efforts of the international organisations and the government of Pakistan, Polio will be eradicated from the country by the end of this year.
Earlier in 2014, around 309 polio cases were reported across the country but the number has significantly come down i.e. 17 this year. In the year 2014, more than 500,000 children could not be accessed for giving polio drops; however, today this number has also been significantly dropped.
Though polio workers have been assaulted in almost all parts of the country, yet they have shown bravery and didn’t lose hope. They have continued their work for which they deserve high appreciation. Owing to their commitment to a cause, it is hoped that one day Pakistan will be a Polio-free country.
