Police finalizes security arrangements

Sindh Police Department, in compliance to Election Commission of Pakistan’s directives, has chalked out an elaborate security plan for the 96533 designated polling stations and their vicinity across the province on July 25.
Inspector General of Police (IGP-Sindh), Amjad Javed Salimi chairing a meeting to review police deployment plan for the province here on Sunday said 100599 police men, including officers and staff, will realize their official responsibilities towards maintenance of law and order situation.
Security, he said will be the top most priority and this will be extended to all citizens, particularly the voters, polling staffers and the candidates without any distinction.“There will be 76533 cops on security duty for the day while another reserve force comprising 3900 police men will be kept on high alert and could be called any time, if and when needed,” said the Sindh police chief. Reiterating that Absolute implementation of Section 144 will be ensured, he said a total number of 2405 officers and staff are also part of province’s election monitoring teams.About the 100599 cops deputed on security duty for the national elections day – 2018, he said 29608 have been stationed in Karachi followed by 22228 Hyderabad,8772 in Sukkur, 12664 Shaheed Benazirabad, 12707 Sukkur and 14020 in Larkana.These were said to include 23463 at polling stations in Karachi, 16483 in Hyderabad, 6475 in Mirpurkhas, 9652 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 9919 in Sukkur and 10541 in Larkana.—APP
