Police directed to take strict action on kite flying

Rawalpindi—Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja on Monday directed the police officers to take strict action against kite sellers and kite flyers.
He said, no one would be allowed to celebrate ‘Basant’ in the city on Mar 10, Thursday night and Friday.
According to RPO Office spokesman, the RPO has directed the police officers to strictly implement the ban.
He said, on the directives of Punjab government, instructions have been issued to the police to launch crackdown without any discrimination against the ban violators including those found indulged in aerial firing and kite flying.
Police should also use drone cameras to curb kite flying in the city and set up special Observation Posts (OPs) on high-rise buildings in the town particularly in congested areas aimed at controlling kite flying and aerial firing, the RPO directed.
The policemen deployed at the posts should use night vision goggles.
The RPO also urged the parents to come forward and play a role to control their children from kite flying which is a dangerous game. The spokesman said, police on the special directive of RPO is conducting raids in different areas and netting the rules violators besides recovering kites and string rolls.
He said, the raids would continue to ensure implementation on the law of ban on kite flying. Strict action in accordance with the law would be taken against the rules violators, he added.—APP
