Lahore—City Police have registered a case against an under trial prisoner of Camp Jail for a suicide attempt with blade outside local trial court while in police custody. Official sources told Pakistan Observer that one of the under trial prisoner Shahid 23, son of Hameed, resident of Green Town, mentioned in FIR 378/15 under section 392 with Green Town Police was taken out of prison for appearing before a trial court at Model Town who on way back attempted to commit suicide with shaving blade while in police custody which was foiled.
The jail authorities refused to accept the prisoner without proper medical examination strictly in accordance with jail manual and registration of FIR. Earlier, the same accused tried to blackmail the prison staff of Central Jail, Kotlakhpat several times for ulterior motives and gaining undue favour in jail who was awarded 16 punishments by Superintendent for misconduct with jailers and was shifted to camp jail on administrative ground. The under trial prisoner is still in Police custody.
The jail authorities strongly condemning the irresponsible attitude of print and electronic me-dia for portraying that this ugly mishap took place inside prisons which was altogether having no iota of truth at all. It would have been better if the contents of news were checked or verified from concerned quarters before filing.
