Peshawar—A high level conference was convened in the Central Police Office to discuss the proposed Police Act. The senior level retired and serving Police Officers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Lahore participated in the conference.
The marathon session, which started in the morning and lasted for about 7 hours, was attended by the former Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) Abbas Khan, Afzal Ali Shigri, Masood Shah, Saeed Khan, Fayyaz Toru and Tariq Khosa participated in the meeting. Besides, the serving officers of the rank of Additional IGP, DIG and SSP, senior officials of many departments as well as the Home Department were presented and discussed at length the Police act. Both the Acts were compared along with the Police Order, 2002.
The detailed deliberations concluded that the basic structure and framework of the Police Order, 2002 must be adhered to.
