PML-N not scared of accountability: Pervaiz

Lahore—Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said the PML-N is not scared of accountability as it has been facing it for the past 20 years.
Talking to newsmen here, Pervaiz Rashid said that Pervez Musharraf had created the National Accountability Bureau just to take revenge from Nawaz Sharif. He said the politicians who were scared of accountability had quit the PML-N and joined the ‘Musharraf league’. He said that the Musharraf League was created to avert accountability.
The Minister said if there is any shortcoming in the working of the NAB, measures will be taken to set it right. However, the chairman of NAB has also admitted that there are problems in its system.
He said it was responsibility of the government to remove shortcomings in laws. He said the constitution can be amended for the sake of country and betterment of the masses.
He said the accountability clauses were included in the Charter of Democracy signed by two big political parties.
To a query, Pervaiz Rashid said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has declared each and every penny of his entire assets before contesting the elections.
The minister said if the Women Protection Bill was enforced in Punjab, the leaders and people of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa need not worry about it.
Answering a question about the possible visit of the national cricket team to India, he said the team would not proceed to India unless the Indian government assures foolproof security.
“The government wants security of its players and assurance from India in this regard,” he said.
