Islamabad—Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar says the PML-N government will support inclusion of Senators in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The Senators have been making this demand since long. There had also been a proposal for the formation of joint PAC of both the houses of parliament.
Dar said, six members of Senate may be included in the PAC. The six members of Senate may be included one each from the provinces as well as FATA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), so as to give representation to all areas/regions in the Senate.
The treasury and opposition in the Senate may have an equal share of three members each. Finance Minister suggested that the Chairman Senate may select the six members in consultation with Parliamentary leaders, keeping in view the proportionate strength of political parties in the house and the House may elect such six members through due process as per Rules of Business and Procedure of Senate.
Senate adopted necessary amendments in its rules Thursday, in order to give effect to the change which will be finalized once corresponding amendment is made by the National Assembly in its Rules in the coming session.
