PM directs to undertake effective anti-polio campaign in twin cities

A meeting of the Islamabad and Rawalpindi Administrations was held at CDA Headquarters as directed by Prime Minister regarding Anti Polio Campaign.
Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz chaired the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Officer of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, Deputy Commissioners Rawalpindi and Islamabad, D.G Administration, CDA, D.G Health Services, representatives of World Health Organization and other institutions.
The Mayor, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the Prime Minister has directed to endeavor for an effective Anti Polio Campaign and purpose of this meeting is to make effective and result oriented the Anti Polio Campaign in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He said that MCI and CDA is enthusiastic for eradication of polio from Islamabad although coordinated efforts are required to eliminate hazardous disease. He said we will work for complete eradication of this disease despite of limited resources as we did in the past as well. He said that for the present Anti polio campaign CDA and MCI has deputed more than 400 officials to perform duties in Islamabad. For the purpose other formations of the CDA and MCI are directed to provide vehicles and other logistic support to Health Services Directorate to gain the effective results. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that we requested the Government to provide men power including doctors, paramedics and vehicles to cope with the anti polio campaign in a better way. He said that Administrations of the twin cities can get better results against polio disease. In this regard, D.G Administration, CDA, Nadeem Akbar Malik has been nominated as focal person.
The meeting was told that three centers are established for the twin cities to take samples of the polio disease. However due to thousands of visitors to the twin cities anti polio campaign is to be carried out on war footings to get the required results.
During the meeting, representatives of World Health Organizations, concern personals of Polio Campaign and officers of Ministries of CADD and Interior gave their suggestion for the better arrangements.
