Pakistan Jr Hockey team to leave for Germany
Abbottabad—Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Monday has appointed Junaid Khan as coach under 18 hockey team.
Junaid Khan hails from Abbottabad and earlier performing his duties as coach with Pakistan Navy hockey team.
Owing to his good performance with Pakistan Navy hockey team PHF has hired him for junior team as coach.
While assuming the charge of the national hockey team coach Junaid Khan met with the under 18 team during the practice session and discussed various issues including their performance. Sports lovers and many sports organizations of Hazara division while congratulating Junaid Khan said that he got this position after hard work and dedication.
They further said that his expertise and sincerity would bring the junior team on the real track of success.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Hockey Federation has conveyed its gratitude to the German Embassy in Islamabad for processing the visas of the Pakistan junior hockey squad in a very short time.
Pakistan will be participating in a 4- Nation under 21 tournament in the German city of Hannover, starting from July 21.
“We are thankful to the Germany Embassy for facilitating us in short span of time to ensure the participation of our team in the event,” said a official of PHF.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Under-21 team will leave for Hannover, Germany on a Turkish Airways from Lahore on July 19 to participate in the 4-Nation Junior Hockey Tournament to be starting from July 21-24.
Besides Pakistan, top ranking European countries including reigning World Junior Champion host Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium are taking part in the tournament to be played on single league basis.
Pakistan will play Germany on July 21 July, Belgium on July 23 and Netherlands on July 24 July. The Junior Pakistan team comprising Dilber Hassan (Captain), Azfar Yaqoob (vice-captain), Usman Ghani, Atif Mushtaq, Mubashar Ali, Abu Bakar, M.Qasim, Junaid Kamal, Shan Irshad, Atiq Arshad, Bilal Qadir, Rana Suhail, Samiullah, Muhammad Rizwan, Hassan Anwar and Faizan. Officials: Tahir Zaman (manager) and Zeeshan Ashraf (coach).
Meanwhile, President Pakistan Hockey Federation conveyed its gratitude to the German Embassy in Islamabad for processing the visas of the Pakistan junior hockey squad in a very short time. —APP
