PHA to plant 1,000 saplings

The Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) would plant 1,000 saplings at various parks of the city, according to an official here on Thursday. The PHA staff planted over 200 saplings at Ladies Park Shamasabad.
Deputy Director Horticulture Saeed Qureshi said that over 800 saplings were being planted at different parks and green-belts, adding that saplings were being provided by philanthropists.
He said that the Independence Day tree plantation campaign by the PHA was also in progress currently.
The total cost of the programme was estimated at Rs 3.652 billion for the period 2016-2021. Fifty per cent of the cost will be met by provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK and Fata regions while the remainder will be extended on a yearly basis by the federal government.—APP
