PFA seals factory manufacturing substandard spices

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has succeeded to unearth a factory manufacturing substandard spices and recovered 4800 kilograms adulterated spices.
According to Director Operations North, Bilawal Abro, PFA on the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is trying to ensure supply of healthy and quality food items to the people. The authority has accelerated its ongoing campaign against adulterators.
He informed that PFA on information by its Vigilance Cell conducted a raid here Tuesday at Madina Factory being run illegally in Gunjmandi area and seized 2000 kg low quality red chilli powder and 2800 kg adulterated spices which were discarded.
Huge quantity of “Chokar, Burada”, textile colour and other items were also recovered which were being mixed in spices. The products were being marketed with fake name and address, he said adding, the Vigilance Cell after purchasing the products from market got tested from lab and after hectic efforts managed to trace the factory.
He informed, a FIR has been lodged against factory owner namely Rashid Abbasi.—APP
