Petition against repatriating employees rejected

Zubair Qureshi

Islamabad—The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has turned down a petition filed by a number of Motorway employees against the government’s decision of sending them back to their parent departments. Pakistan People’s Party government had brought hundreds of employees on deputation from various departments in the Motorway police and later awarded them a permanent status.
The present government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had however directed these employees on deputation to report back to their original departments. Among these employees who received orders of repatriation included 356 employees of the Motorway police of which 51 had filed a petition against the PML-N government’s decision. However the Islamabad High Court single bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi on Thursday refused to entertain their petition. The court rather directed disciplinary action against those officers on deputation who were made permanent.
