Ulema and religious scholars have called for efforts for peace-building and mutual respect among the followers of different faiths and religions. They said this while addressing “Peacemaker Awards” ceremony organized by Peace and Education Foundation (PEF), at a local hotel. Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Qibla Ayaz presided over the award ceremony while European Union ambassador to Pakistan His Excellency Mr Jean-Francois Cautain was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dr Qibla Ayaz was of the view that it was quite reassuring to see Ulema have realized the significance of inter-religious harmony and mutual respect, and a sense of responsibility.
Jean-Francois Cautain expressed his grief over the incidents of terrorism happened in Pakistan and said that European Union fully supported Pakistani civil society efforts to eradicate this menace. Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University (IIUI), said that PEF and IIUI both share the same vision and mission of bringing peace and promoting education. There is no doubt that religion has plays an important role in one’s life, and peace for the prosperity of mankind is part of every religion.
