Paramedics strike irk patients

Abbottabad—Patient suffered at large when complete strike was observed in Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) by doctors as except emergency cover, no normal routine activity was carried out and the cause list of operations was also suspended here Thursday. Doctors went on strike after non-fulfilment of their demands by management as well as board of governors.
Doctors told that their strike for indefinite period as management fails to resolve the issues after the after the expiry of deadline given by PDA to meet the six points demands of the doctors as the hospital administration put deaf ears on their genuine demands which include provision of Health Professional Allowance, Security concerns of doctors, Accommodation issue, Stipends arrears, PMDC exit examination issue of house officers and registration of doctors of dentistry department. Except Emergency cover, the entire hospital was completely paralysed as all indoor & outdoor services were suspended throughout the day including Out patients Departments (OPDs), Operation Theatres, Laboratory, X ray unit, Physiotherapy and Blood Bank. Patients from far-flung areas faced problems specially the patients who were on operation theatre lists.
Protesting doctors took out a procession and after taking round of the hospital staged protest meeting, which was addressed by the president PDA, Dr Amin Ullah Afridi & Secretary Dr. Zaheer Abbass. They in their speeches lashes out hospital administration for not fulfilling their demands and vowed to continue their indefinite strike till the acceptance of there all demands.
