PAL ensuring welfare of writers’ families

Islamabad—Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) is facilitating around 500 living writers and bereaved families of deceased writers by paying Rs 5,000 per month as honorarium.
In this regard, PAL has launched a scheme for writers and poets and bereaved families of deceased writers facing hardships or economic distress.
Official sources on Thursday said besides monthly stipends, financial assistance is also paid to ailing writers for medical treatment and to their bereaved families on recommendations of local literary organizations.—APP
