Karachi—South Korea is contributing a huge amount in the form of scholarships to the students of 25 universities in the 13 countries of Asia to the meritorious students so that they could get better and affordable education, the Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr Muhammad Qaiser here Friday.
Students from Karachi University were also selected for POSCO Asia Fellowship scholarships entirely on merit, he remarked while addressing at the Cheque Distribution Ceremony of POSCO Asia Fellowship here, said adding that Pakistan and South Korea enjoy deep friendly ties, said a statement.
He stated that education is one of the major factors of the development and progress of South Korea.
We are thankful to POSCO Asia for providing this scholarship to our students and expressed the hope that this practice will continue.
Notables present on the occasion were Prof. Dr Khalid Iraqi, Registrar Prof. Dr Moazzam Ali Khan, Prof. Dr Syed Afrozuddin, Prof. Dr Iqbal Azhar, Prof. Dr Syed Ansar Rizvi, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Nadeem Ahmed Khan and Dr Muhammad Sohail.
Vice Chancellor added that in KU these scholarships are awarded to the students who were committed to achieve significance in the field of science and technology.
He said that he was also thankful to Dr Rafat Hussain, Dr G.A.J Hussain and Naveen Hussain for also providing scholarships.
Ten students from different departments of the varsity were selected on merit for the POSCO scholarship and $5,000 were distributed to them in total while 500 dollars to each student.
