Pakistan, Poland can cooperate in many areas for mutual benefit: Ambassador

CGSS organized an Interactive Series Session on “Pakistan-Poland: Bilateral Ties” held on at Islamabad Club. The Ambassador of Poland, H.E. Piotr A. Opalinski was invited to give a speech on the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Poland.
Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, HI (M), (Retd) – President CGSS, welcomed the Ambassador and the distinguished guests while introducing the format and modalities of the series.
Talking about the history of Pakistan-Poland relations, Ambassador Piotr A. Opalinski stated that Polish ties with Pakistan date back to pre-independence era when a number of Polish families migrated to Karachi. Some Polish academics joined the faculty of Karachi University, teaching courses ranging from physical sciences to social sciences. After the independence of Pakistan, W³adys³aw Turowicz, along with thirty Polish officers and technicians, contributed to and assisted in the establishment of the Pakistan Air Force. He also shed light on the active role of Polish officers in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, leading and commanding air war operations against the Indian Air Force.
During the Question & Answer session, the participants of the session actively participated and raised important questions pertaining to current status of Pakistan-Poland relations. Ambassador Piotr A. Opalinski was of the view that there are a lot of areas in which both the countries can cooperate ranging from the Socio-Economic aspect to Military cooperation. Ambassador Piotr A. Opalinski also welcomed and appreciated the CPEC mega project and showed interest in contributing in Pakistan’s energy sector and agricultural sector.
