Islamabad—Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government offered a liberal investment regime and fully encourage foreign investors to make investment in Pakistan. He expressed these views while talking to Vice President of well-reputed Italian multinational oil and gas company ENI, Lapo Pistelli in Islamabad on Tuesday. Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo was also present on the occasion. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and matters relating to investment in Pakistan were discussed.
The Finance Minister apprised the Deputy Head of ENI about the investment plans of Chinese, Saudi and Qatar companies and said Italian investors were welcome to explore and avail business opportunities in Pakistan in various fields including the energy sector. ENI Vice President on the occasion said that the company engages in oil and natural gas exploration, field development and production, as well as in the supply, trading and shipping of natural gas, LNG, electricity, fuels and chemical products. He briefed the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar about the various projects undertaken by ENI and evinced keen interest in business and investment opportunities in Pakistan.
Ishaq Dar said all foreign investors would be fully facilitated in undertaking investment activities in Pakistan. Senior officials of the Finance Division, Economic Affairs Division and Water and Power attended the meeting.
