Islamabad—Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that relation with Ukraine form an important pillar in Pakistan’s outreach to the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia as part of its endeavors for forging stronger connectivity and deeper cooperation.
He was speaking to ambassador of Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Lakomovwho called on him at Parliament House, Islamabad on Thursday.
The Speaker outlined that Pakistan aspires sustained Parliamentary engagement with Ukraine for fostering robust and comprehensive bilateral relations. He remarked that extensive cooperation in defense equipments and trade forms the bedrock of Pakistan-Ukraine relations. He said that cooperation in energy, textile, and agriculture, technological and cultural exchanges offers immense scope for expanding the existing ties.
The Speaker reiterated his commitment for cementing Pakistan-Ukraine Friendship Group in the National Assembly and urged the Ambassador to reciprocate Pakistan’s endeavors in the Parliament of Ukraine. He added that stronger and pro-active inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups may play a significant role in fostering exchange of information on addressing regional and global issues.
Ambassador of Ukraine, Mr.Volodymyr Lakomov reinforced Ukraine’s commitment for cementing and expanding bilateral relations with Pakistan and added that a number of Ukrainian companies are interested in building power plants, pipelines, bridges and railways in Pakistan. He endorsed Speaker’s remarks for strengthening Parliamentary Friendship Groups. He underlined the need for cooperation in promoting sustained cooperation in civilian and defense sector, promoting political dialogue and exchange of best Parliamentary practices.
