Pak-US relations

Pakistan and US are old allies though relations between the two countries have never been so ideal and there have been ups and down every now and then. But still both countries are pulling along, more or less in a friendly manner and continue making efforts for further improvement of the ties for which there is a lot of room. Relations between any two countries are discussed at varying length when Ambassadors and Consul Generals of a country pay courtesy calls on the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of a province on posting and then when they are returning to their respective countries on completion of their tenure or even earlier.
Cordial friendly relations between Pakistan and USA figured quite prominently when new US Consul General Yuriy Fedkiw paid a courtesy call on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif who welcomed him on being posted in Lahore and extended best wishes to him. The Chief Minister said that the US and Pakistan have multi-dimensional relations and both countries are working for further improvement in their ties through increased cooperation and assistance in various fields. He expressed the hope that friendly relations between Islamabad and Washington will gain further strength and improve further for the welfare and betterment of the people of both countries with the passage of time.
Reciprocating these sentiments, the new US Consul General said that his country attaches great importance to relations with Pakistan and keen to work in close cooperation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to further boost ties between the two sides. He said that he had heard much about the Chief Minister’s commitment, dedication to serve the people and work with speed in an untiring manner for their welfare and has had practically seen that.
