Pak-Turk school staff temporarily saved from expulsion

Zubair Qureshi

A divisional bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday suspended the single bench decision that had supported the government’s move to expel Pak-Turk teachers and staff from the country by denying extension in their visas. However Wednesday proved to be a good day for the petitioners as the court suspended single bench order while hearing an intra-court appeal.
The decision has given a temporary relief to the Turkish teachers and staff members of the international chain of schools who have been given a cold shoulder by the government and conveyed that there was no place for them in this country. However a division of the IHC bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb suspended Nov 17 decision of a single bench of the IHC that had dismissed the teachers’ plea for extension in their stay.
