Pak team to feature in World Youth Bowling C’ship

Islamabad—A four-member Pakistan tenpin bowling team will participate in the World Tenpin Bowling Youth Championship 2016, scheduled to be held from July 24 to August 3 at Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.
Pakistan team includes Pakistan number 1 Ahmer Abbas Saldera, Ali Suria, Daniyal Shah and Yaseen Jan, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) secretary general Ijaz ur Rehman told APP on Thursday.
Ijaz said he would himself lead the squad as a coach. “We will be fielding our best athletes in the event,” he said adding that a 15-day training camp would be arranged at Leisure Bowling Club Islamabad to polish bowling skills of young bowlers.
He said Pakistan team would participate in individual, double and team events of the championship. Last time Pakistan took part in the individual event in which Ahmer finished at 32 out of the 100 bowlers.
However, Ijaz sounded optimistic that Pakistan athletes would produce better results this time. “I’m hopeful we’ll be able to finish among top ten teams this time”, he said.
The World Bowling Youth Championship is bowling’s most prestigious event for young athletes. The best youth bowlers from around 100 countries of 21-year and under will partake in the Championships, which are held once every second year. The last event was held in Hong Kong in 2014. —APP
