Monday, October 19, 2015 – THE first-ever Pakistan-Switzerland Friendship exhibition, in which 20 companies from the two countries participated in a three=month exhibition at the Karachi airport, was a great success, it could easily be ascertained from the enthusiastic turn out at a dinner reception held by the Swiss Consul General Emil Wyss at the wee-end celebrate the occasion
It was in fact the brain-child of Emil, who is more than half Pakistani, and a diplomat of his own class and style, always thinking of promoting people to people contact between his country and Pakistan.
He is a humane, a thoroughbred gentleman, visiting charitable institutions, orphanages, blood transfusion services, universities and schools for lectures and establishing rapport with the Karachiites. Something rare and novel. Speaking at the momento distribution ceremony for the companies participating in the 100-day exhibition and those sponsoring the event, he felt happy that some half a million people of all ages and classes visited the stalls at the Jinnah International Airport.
Another evidence of its popularity could be gauged from the enormous rise in the number of Face Book messages from 7000 to 70,000 during this period.
The exhibition had made its mark, and now enquiries had begun to flow in about Swiss Investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The exhibition has served its purpose for which was grateful for the support from the Airport Security Force, and PIA, the two principal agencies engaged in passenger facilitation at the airport.
The function was also attended Roger M. Kull, the deputy head of mission at the Swiss Embassy in Islamabad who had especially flown in here for the purpose.
