According to the ISPR, COAS General Qamar Bajwa reassured the Saudi ambassador that the Pakistan Army holds the defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at par with its own.
Issues pertaining to Pakistan-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations including defence and training cooperation remained the focus of the discussion.
Pakistan immensely values its relationship with Saudi Arabia, which has a history of brotherhood, shared interests and intimate partnership. Pakistan has a long-standing agreement with Saudi Arabia guaranteeing the Kingdom’s security. Islamabad is also part of Saudi-led 34 nation military alliance against terrorism and both the countries keep close interaction and cooperation on matters of Muslim Ummah and regional peace and security.
After taking charge as Chief of Army Staff, it is worth mentioning that General Qamar Bajwa made a first official visit to Saudi Arabia and met with the top leadership during his three days stay there.
In talks, the Saudi leadership reassured the Pakistan Army chief that the Kingdom supports peace and stability in Pakistan in every way. The chief of army staff reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the security and protection of the Holy Mosques and also the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
According to defence analysts, making a first visit to Saudi Arabia, itself, manifests the close security relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. They said that both the countries have stood by each other in difficult times and they appreciated the visit of Bajwa to Saudi Arabia saying such visits indeed help promoting understanding of each other’s point of view on critical matters.
