PAC annoyed over alleged corruption

Quetta—Chairman, Balochistan Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abdul Majeed Achakzai has said that they would write a letter to Director General, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for probe into distribution of local government funds.
He said that audit of local bodies funds’ utilization would also be conducted. He said this while presiding over a meeting of Public Accounts Committee of the Balochistan Assembly at the assembly secretariat here.
Provincial Secretary Finance, Capt. (retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani briefed the PAC on the release of funds to local bodies all over Balochistan. The meeting was also attended by MPA and member of PAC, Yasmeen Lehri, Secretary Local Government, Hafiz Abdul Majid, Director General Audit, Nasrullah Jan and other officials.
The Chairman PAC said that Balochistan has 635 union councils and added that all union councils should be released funds on equal basis. “We will write letter to DG NAB for conducting probe into distribution of funds to union councils,” he said.
He said that Secretary Local Government should have to provide record of all PC-1 to PAC.
The meeting decided that a special audit of local bodies’ funds for year 2014-15 would be conducted. “We are custodian of funds allocated for poor people and we will not tolerate any negligence and corruption in utilization of the funds,” he said.—APP
