PA condemns Sami’s assassination

The Punjab Assembly on Thursday adopted a supplementary resolution to condemn the assassination of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi chaired the Punjab Assembly meeting first session while the second session was presided over by the Deputy Speaker.
The Chief Minister did not attend the sitting while the Leader of the Opposition attended the proceedings for about three hours. As many as 205 lawmakers (55%) were present at the outset and 80 (22%) at the adjournment of the sitting.
The parliamentary leaders of the PPPP and Rah-e-Haq Party, four out of eight minority members attended the sitting.
Moved by the Law Minister, the House unanimously adopted a supplementary resolution to condemn the assassination of JUI-S chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq.
Five lawmakers spoke on the resolution while 17 lawmakers spoke on the law and order prevailing in the country. The six suspended members of the PML-N protested and chanted slogans against the government.—INP
