One dead, 20 injured in swing collapse; 8 involved booked

Multan—As many as 20 persons, including children, were injured as a swing collapsed in Jinnah Park, here on Wednesday.
According to Rescue 1122, a large number of families reached Jinnah Park to celebrate second day of Eid-ul-Azha. People including children were riding swings in the park when a swing collapsed due to over loading. As a result, 20 persons including kids sustained injuries. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and provided first aid to the injured. The rescuers shifted six injured – Ali (18) s/o Ghulam Nabi, Mudassar (18) s/o Ameen, Hamad (18) s/o Aziz, Javed (20) s/o Fareed, Karamat (16) s/o Laal Badshah and Sawab Khan (25) s/o Sidrat Khan – to Nishtar Hospital due to their serious injuries. Police concerned reached the spot and got closed all swings of the park. However, operator of the swing and park administration managed to escape. Another two injured – Arshad Khan (25) s/o Akram and Aqeel (18) s/o Ghulam Shabir – were also shifted to the hospital by police.
Police have registered a case against eight persons including Director Finance PHA and owner/ contractor of the recreational facility in a swing-breaking incident at Jinnah Park, Shah Rukne-e-Alam area, during Eid holidays.
The police have also arrested four accused in this regard. According to police sources, one boy was killed and seven others were injured when a swing broke down on Wednesday, the second day of Eid-ul-Azha.
Shah Rukn-e-Alam police have registered the case under sections 324, 337-H1 and 34-K, and arrested four persons including Director PHA Khurrum Jameel, Supervisor Muhammad Akram, Engineer Chaudhry Liaquat and Head Operator Babar.
The police have nominated eight persons as accused in the FIR No 469/2016. Others still at large are owner/ contractor Maj (R) Anwar, head-operator Mahar Husnain, Capt (R) Nabat Khattak and engineer Mirza Zohaib.—APP
