Ombudsman’s adviser for deploying more meter readers

Karachi—The Senior Adviser to Federal Ombudsman, Farzana Jabeen, has asked K-Electric to deploy more meter readers for ensuring that the bills are sent to consumers in accordance with the actual consumption.
She stated this while hearing the applications of Muhammad Wakeel and Muhammad Kashif against over-billing by K-Electric, according to a statement issued here on Sunday.
She was of the view that sending bills without actual reading when meters are installed was an injustice to electricity consumers. She said the consumers who have got installed the meters have the right to pay their bills as per electricity consumption.
The Adviser, hearing the applications of Shehzad Khan and Muhammad Waseem, said that to impose six months fine on consumers was ‘illegal’. She not only addressed the complaints of over-billing but also directed that these bills be paid in installments.—APP
