Nursing a noble profession

Chief Nursing Superintendent Services Hospital Samina Yasmeen has said that nursing is a noble profession which serves the ailing humanity in hospitals with dedication.
She said that patients express even more confidence on nurses than doctors. More steps are needed to be taken for the promotion of nursing profession in the country. She said that white uniform of nurses requires more facilities including sense of security and better service structure.
Samina Yasmeen expressed these views in a function held here to celebrate the World Nursing Day.
She said that nurses work shoulder to shoulder with male companions to save human lives. She applauded the Punjab government for recruiting charge nurses through Punjab Public Service Commission for the first time to meet merit and transparency. The Punjab government has also regularized nurses working on contract basis, she added.
Nurses – Rashida Naureen, Nafeesa Ahmed, Gulshan and others – said on this occasion that number of nurses must be increased in accordance with rapidly rising the number of patients in hospitals. They also emphasized that nurses who have done their specializations should be posted in the relevant departments so as to get better results.
The nurses demanded that residential facilities in the nurses hostels and other basic amenities should be improved for the betterment of nurse community.
