Nurses’ protest enters 3rd day for meeting demand

Multan—Protest of nurses of Nishtar Medical Institute (NMI) entered third consecutive day against non professional behaviour of their superintendent, here on Thursday. One of the nurses named Sara reportedly went to Katchery Flyover during the protest and threatened to commit suicide by jumping from it if their demand of transferring of their nursing superintendent, Kobab Naheed was not met.
Later, passers-by and her colleagues took her down from the flyover. The protesting nurses alleged that they were not allowed study leave adding that pregnant staff nurses were deputed in Accidents and Emergency (A&E) ward where in some cases they suffered miscarriage. On deputed education (education with salary) is also denied, they said.
Earlier, they staged a rally which began from main gate of the hospital and culminated at Jail road. The protesters said that the nursing superintendent, forbade them to use veil and if anyone of them veils during duty she marked her absent from duties adding that her salary was also deducted.—APP
