Norway trusted friend: Ayaz

Islamabad—Speaker National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Norway is trusted friend and important economic partner of Pakistan and it wants to further strengthen its existing bilateral relations.
Talking to Ambassador of Norway to Pakistan Mr. Tore Nedrebo who called on him in Parliament House on Wednesday, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Pakistan appreciates Norway’s unwavering support in the hour of need. He said that economic cooperation between the two countries has witnessed an increase, however it needs to be further enhanced. He stressed for Norwegian support in Hydro-Power sector in order to overcome the energy crises in Pakistan.
He urged that regular interaction between political hierarchy, people and parliaments of both the countries would further cement those ties. The Speaker emphasized the need for enhancing cooperation and interaction between the parliaments and parliamentarians of both the countries for exchange of views and experiences. He said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its existing cordial relations with Norway which has always been supportive of Pakistan.
Mr. Tore Nedrebo, the Norwegian Ambassador reiterated his country’s desire to further cement existing ties through people-to-people contacts, parliament to parliament and cooperation in social and economic sectors. He said that Pakistani Diaspora in Norway have rendered great services for an inclusive and prosperous Norwegian democracy.
The Norwegian Ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s endeavors and sacrifices in the war on terror and applauded Pakistan’s role in addressing terrorism in the wider interest of global peace. He remarked that in recent years Pakistan has made great strides towards a broad-based democracy and its economy is witnessing greater progress.—INP
