No unnecessary referral to major hospitals, says Secretary health

Secretary Health Punjab Saqib Zaffer has emphasized that trend of unnecessary referral of patients to major hospital should be discouraged. He was talking to a delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADP) who called on him here, today. “Health Department has adopted the policy to provide all important health facilities to district and tehsil level and all such hospitals were bound to mention solid reason before referring any patient to big hospitals” he said.
The Secretary reiterated that vision of Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab to introduce reforms in health sector would be implemented in letter and spirit. “Emergencies all over the Punjab were being strengthened and new recruitment of doctors and nurses through Punjab Public Service Commission were made” said Saqib Zaffer. He also thrown light on health card scheme and said that health insurance scheme would be extended to all districts.
Moreover he said that health card by Punjab Government would have better features and comprehensive plan of health coverage. “The premium would be paid by provincial government” he further said. While praising initiative by Minister Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid he called her “dynamic personality” and said that health department’s matters were being improved under the guidelines of health minister. Secretary Health said that mother and child health was primary focus of Punjab Health Department and recently “Nutrition Week” was celebrated in all parts of Punjab.
