No rescue for students buried under avalanche

Chitral—A rescue operation was yet to be initiated to retrieve eight students buried under an avalanche in Karim Abad area here on Monday while the locals and personnel of Chitral Scouts recovered the bodies of a man and student from the massive avalanche the other day.
According to local people and administration ten students belonging to different villages of Chitral were on their way to home from their school in Mausam village when the road was blocked due to snowfall.
The boys and a local man were waiting for the road to be cleared when a massive avalanche scattering over more than a kilometer struck all of them. On Sunday personnel of Chitral Scouts and local people retrieved the bodies of a man identified as Rehmat and a student, Mubashar from the avalanche while eight other students including Imran, Ali Shan, Muhammad Ilahi, Faiz Ali, Irshad Ahmed and Muhammad Imran were still missing and no rescue operation was initiated to recover the students.
On Monday the administration said the incident occurred in a remote area and as soon as the weather is cleared the rescue operation would be initiated.—APP
