No meteorological system at 40 districts

As many as 97 meteorological stations have been providing weather data at district level in the country whereas 40 districts still have no weather station.
Currently, seven radars are installed at Islamabad, Mangla, Sialkot, Lahore, Rahimyar Khan, D.I.Khan and Karachi which cover almost 60 percent area of the whole country.
In addition, 20 seismic stations have been providing earthquake information from different parts of the country, an official of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) told APP on Friday. Most of the equipment had become very old and could not fulfill the forecasting demand under Climate Change, he added.—APP
