No incident of rat bite occurred at LAH

Lahore—A spokesman of Punjab Health Department has contradicted a news item appeared in a section of press in which it was claimed that an incident of rat bite to a neonate occurred in the nursery of Lady Aitchison hospital the other day. The spokesman clarified that no such incident took place in the hospital and the news regarding the incident is contradicted to the facts.
The spokesman further said that when this news was appeared in the media, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education sought a report from the hospital administration. In the response to the Secretary Health’s orders, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Samina has denied any such incident in the hospital.
She said that neither any case of rat bite to a neonate reported nor any parents protested. She further said that SOPs and guidelines are strictly being followed and Rat Repellant Devices have been installed in baby resuscitation area which does not allow the rats to enter the area. Rat cannot come as the sound waves from the device damage the nervous system of rat.
