Interim Minister for Law and Justice Syed Ali Zafar on Monday assured the people of tribal areas same kind of amenities that are available to the people of other regions. He said this while chairing a meeting of the committee constituted by the Prime Minister for smooth merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He made it clear that there would be no discrimination in development, as tribal people had the same constitutional rights along with the rest of the country. The committee decided that as a result of the merger all the Federal and Provincial laws had become immediately applicable to the areas of Fata and forth will all fundamental and human rights will be available to the people of Fata. However, there was a need to assure that the infrastructure, the system of administration of Justice, maintenance of peace of good governance in the areas as prevailing in the province of KPK was made available for the full benefit to be accrued to the people. For this purpose an Interim arrangement had to be made immediately.
The committee also decided that a legal framework needs to be given for the maintenance of peace and good governance in the areas which comprises tribal Districts and Sub-Divisions.
