Islamabad—Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday removed Superintendent of Police (SP) City Rizwan Gondal from his post for creating a scene at a public place and for damaging reputation of police department.
The Minister took action on the complaint of a citizen that SP Rizwan had caused rumpus in the lobby of a five-star hotel a couple of days ago and insulted the hotel administration including its manager and other staff. The hotel staff however preferred not to report the incident, however, a citizen present in the lobby watched the whole episode and later reported it to Interior Minister.
SP Rizwan according to the complaint, had not only humiliated the hotel staff but he also briefly arrested the hotel manager on a petty matter and kept him in illegal custody. Upon receiving the complaint, Ch Nisar Ali Khan had initiated inquiry against the said police officer. On Monday, however, the said official was found guilty during initial investigation and in view of his poor behaviour and damaging the reputation of the police force the Minister ordered a regular inquiry into the matter and directed the SP to report Establishment Division with immediate effect.
Nisar said SP Rizwan had damaged reputation of police and there was no excuse for such a person to remain in the Department.
An official of Special Branch has also been suspended for not providing report about the incident. Meanwhile, Ch Nisar Ali Khan has also taken notice of the reports that a joint secretary of the Ministry of Interior along with a number of the Rangers jawans broke into the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office and harassed the officials there.
