7 die as jeep falls into gorge in Skardu

Karachi/Skardu—Sixteen passengers were killed and many injured in two different major road accidents in Thatta and in Skardu on Sunday.
In the first accident, at least nine people, including five children and three women were killed and several others injured when a truck and a bus colided near Jiharak in Thatta, some 62 miles from here.
Police said the dead and injured were shifted to Hyderabad hospital, while those with serious injuries were moved to Karachi for specialised treatment.
The bus was heading for Shahdadkot, a teshil near Larkana, when it met the accident. Police said the horrific accident occurred due to over speeding of bus that went out of driver’s control.
in the second fatal accident seven people died and another injured as a jeep fell into a gorge in Gilgit on Sunday.
A Skardu-bound jeep coming from Deosai skidded off road and plunged into a ravine in Satpara area of the district. Reports say five people died on the spot and three others were injured.
Police and local people who reached the scene of the accident shifted the bodies and injured to hospital where two more succumbed to their wounds raising death toll to seven. The condition of the injured person was also stated to be serious.
The deceased all hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan were on visit to scenic Deosai valley to celebrate the weekend when they met with tragic accident.
