NH&MP makes transport owners pay back Rs3.6m to passengers

Lahore—The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP), Central Zone, made the public transport vehicle owners pay back Rs 3,626,787 to 22,301 passengers, overcharged from them during the Eid holidays.
DIG Mirza Faran Baig said during a surprise checking of overcharging in buses on national highways near Thoker Niaz Baig, here on Saturday.
The central zone also imposed fine on 8,438 vehicles for various violations.
Similarly, the Motorway Police imposed 5,377,650 fine on the public service vehicles and offloaded 227 vehicles over violation of laws.
The Motorway Police initiated action against buses, coaches and other vehicles in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Sahiwal, Multan, Okara, Khanewal, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, and other major cities on the complaints of overcharging.—APP
