Karachi—Newly elected Mayor of Sukkur Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh on Thursday visited the mausoleum of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah here to pay tribute to the great leader.
Newly elected Deputy Mayor of Sukkur, Tariq Chohan and others were also present.
Later, talking to media the Mayor of Sukkur said that as mayor of Sukkur, he would strive for bringing out-of-school children to schools for which he had full backing of the PPP and the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Barrister Arsalan appealed to the people, NGOs, schools managements to share their expertise with him so that he could make this dream come true.
He said that he is well aware of the problems of the people of Sukkur, which are greater than the resources available but still he was confident that he would bring a salient change with the cooperation of the people.
Barrister Arsalan said that according to UNICEF’s statistics, 24 million children of 5-16 years age were out-of-schools while 6.1 million children of primary level do not had access to schools of which the girls ratio counts to two-fifth of the total number.
