The great game changer, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, projects timely, speedy and transparent implementation in various sectors and benefits which have already started accruing to people of Pakistan in different regions and areas continues to attract attention of more and more countries of region and beyond and also within the country as well. It is good to note that Provincial Government of KP, which was slow starter in the beginning as for as CPEC is concerned, has expressed desire and shown keenness for inclusion of some of its development projects within the portfolio of projects under the aegis of CPEC.
According to the reports in the newspapers, an important, quite decisive and productive meeting was held between Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal and KPK Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in Islamabad the other day at which the Centre and KPK agreed to include more projects in CPEC. During the meeting, the Federal Minister is reported to have expressed satisfaction over the pace of development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which were made part of CPEC during last meeting of Pak-China Joint Cooperation Council held in Beijing in December last.
Federal Minister stated quite emphatically that CPEC has already started linking various parts of the country and these linkages are going to tremendously contribute to the uplift, economic development and trade promotion of Pakistan. Citing an example he told KP CM, travel time between Quetta-Gwadar has been reduced to about eight hours instead of a very tedious couple of days long travel time earlier.
