Islamabad— Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan has said that new industrial zones will be established in the Balochistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He expressed these views while addressing on the occasion of concluding session and certificates distribution ceremony of 2nd Batch of Agriculture and Livestock Training Course under “Skill Development of the Farmers of Balochistan (SDFB) Programme here at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) Chak Shahzad on Friday.
Present Government gives special focus to Balochistan agriculture development to reduce poverty in the region and to improve socio-economic condition of farming community and Federal Government was initiating various new projects for Balochistan development, he added. Minister of State for Petroleum and NR appreciated the role of Federal Ministry of National Food Security and Research and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) for organizing a very useful and practical training course for farmers of Balochistan at a Pakistan largest national agricultural research centre in Islamabad to ac-quaint them with new advancements in agriculture and livestock sector and to enhance their technical skill and knowledge to improve their production. The Minister said, “today is the era of science and technology. With the use of new knowledge and technical skill farmers can increase their production for food security and improve their livelihood”, he remarked.
The cold storage facilities, he said for farmers were also increasing. Government, he said was also planning new projects to address various issues of the farming community of the region. He highlighted some new projects such as Solar Tubewells, Olive promotion and other projects. He said farmers adopt new technology and new ani-mals breeds that have more demand and market in the world. Member National Assembly and Chairman N.A. Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research (NFS&R) Malik Shakir Bashir Awan on behalf of Ministry of NFS&R and PARC welcomed the farmers for their training at NARC. He said there is great potential of agriculture development in Balochistan.
He said Ministry of NFS&R working on new various projects for the promotion and development of agriculture in Balochistan. Director General NARC Dr. M. Azeem Khan said that PARC and NARC supporting new pro-jects for Balochistan development. The new projects would reduce poverty and bring peace in the region. He high-lighted PARC on-going projects like promotion of olive cultivation in Balochistan and Prime Minister programme for installation of Solar Tubwells in the country including Balochistan to address the water issues of the farmers.
