New graveyards to be set up in big cities

A high-level meeting was held under the chair of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here today to discuss different matters pertaining to an extension in Shehar-e-Khamoshan Project. The meeting decided to immediately start the programme of establishing model graveyards on the pattern of Shehar-e-Khamoshan at divisional headquarters and eight major cities.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that model graveyards will be set up in every district on the pattern of Shehar-e-Khamoshan; adding that process of identification of land has been completed for setting up of model graveyards.
He directed to constitute a steering committee to implement the project and said that this committee will move this project further in collaboration with the Punjab Shehar-e-Khamoshan Authority. He said the project of establishing model graveyards is important as these are needed in every district.
For the purpose, this project should be implemented on the fast-track basis and no dearth of resources will ever happen as it is an important initiative. He said that establishment of model graveyards is a noble cause and hard work should be employed to complete this initiative.
He directed the Senior Member Board of Revenue to complete the process of transfer of land as soon as possible for early completion of the project. Assembly Members and Mayors termed the setting up of model graveyard project as another blissful initiative of Punjab Chief Minister. DG Punjab Shehar-e-Khamoshan Authority Salman Sufi gave a briefing about the implementation of the project.
Provincial Ministers Mansha Allah Butt, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, PML Leader Kh. Ahmad Hassan, Syeda Uzma Qadri MPA, Lord Mayor Mubasher Javed, SMBR and concerned secretaries attended the meeting. Mayors, Commissioners, Chairmen of District Councils and DCs participated from their offices through the video link.
