New-born baby kidnapped from hospital

Karachi—After eight years, the birth of a baby girl was a huge gift of God to Noor Begum and her husband Nazuk Hussain but the happiness was converted to mourning when their one-day-old baby was kidnapped from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
On Friday September 16 at 12 noon the baby was born in the labour room of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Two hours later at around 2 pm the baby was kidnapped, Nazuk Hussain told a TV channel.
According to reports, Noor Begum, the mother, said that an unknown veiled lady came to her bed and said that her sister-in-law was also admitted in the same ward. When the staff came to change her clothes the unknown woman took her baby and rushed to the stairs.
“After the incident I called the police helpline 15. The police arrived in half hour and took the staff in custody but more than 72 hours have passed and the police and hospital administration haven’t recovered my baby,” Nazuk Hussain, the father, said.
CCTV footage shows the unknown woman wearing a red scarf and carrying the baby outside the hospital.
RMO General of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Dr Jahanzaib Khan said that the hospital does not have enough security to check every patient and their attendants.
Senior Director Health Services Dr Muhammad Ali Abbasi confirmed the kidnapping of the baby and said an inquiry committee would be formed to investigate the matter.
