New academic block at SSUET inaugurated

Karachi—The newly constructed 10-storeyed academic Block E at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has been inaugurated. An official of the institution said on Monday that the Block has been named in memory of the university’s first Chancellor Engr Z.A. Nizami, who passed away 3 years back.
The Block was inaugurated with the cutting of ribbon jointly by senior Aligarian, Mazhar Aslam Zuberi, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar, Farrukh Nizami, son of late Z.A. Nizami, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jawaid H. Rizvi. Mohammed Arshad Khan, General Secretary AMUOBA, Rizwan Siddiqi and others.
Later, they unveiled the plaque installed at the entrance of the block. The Chancellor SSUET Jawaid Anwar said that eight floors of the Block will be used for academic purposes and faculty offices while upper two floors will have a modern auditorium.
He pointed out that the foundation stone of the new Block E was laid by former Chancellor Adil Usman in November 2013. He sought cooperation of philanthropists to generously donate for the construction of a modern auditorium in this Block as was contributed by senior Aligarhian Engr Bashir A. Malik who got a modern auditorium constructed in Block F.
The Chancellor said that various steps have been taken and more were underway for the development and up gradation of the university to earn it a highest place in the HEC’s ranking.—APP
