Islamabad—8th of October was observed as national disaster awareness day with the theme of “our commitment” Tayyar Pakistan” by NDMA with a great dedication to make Pakistan disaster resilient land.
The aim to celebrate the day was to highlight the importance of disaster awareness and to underscore preparedness, support and rehabilitation is case of calamity.
On the occasion an awareness flag march was conducted which was participated by Emergency Response and Rescue workers. Beside this at least 50 cyclists participated in the form of cyclathon in the said awareness flag march. March was initiated from Jinnah Convention Center and passed from various routes of the city viz D Chowk Islamabad to Golra More and then ended up in back to Convention Center Islamabad.
The participants of the march were wore printed T Shirts and caps with messages regarding precautionary and safety measures.
According to the importance of the day banners and boards were displayed on all roads, mega malls and hotels of the metropolitan.
The day was also celebrated in provincial levels as various awareness programs were conducted in all the provinces of the country. It is pertinent that main function regarding calamity awareness was postponed due to sanctity of moharam.
