Nawaz becomes witness at wedding of Erdogan’s daughter

Ankara—Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family attended the wedding ceremony of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s daughter Sumeyye Erdogan.
Erdogan invited Nawaz Sharif and his family to attend the ceremony. The event was attended by leaders of four other countries.
The prime minister was called on stage to be the witness to the Nikkah. He also signed the marriage contract (Nikhha) of Erdogan’s daughter.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan daughter Sumeyye was married to defence industrialist Selcuk Bayraktar at a large-scale and high security ceremony in Istanbul.
The wedding started with the reciting of Quran, the private NTV television reported.
Top officials including Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, army chief Hulusi Akar and former president Abdullah Gul attended the ceremony, to which some 6,000 guests were reportedly invited.
Davutoglu’s appearance at the wedding could dismiss claims of a split with the president. Turkish media pictures earlier showed Sumeyye, 30, wearing a headscarf, sitting in the front seat of the black BMW bridal car.
Erdogan and his wife Emine have four children — eldest son Burak, Bilal and two daughters Esra and Sumeyye.—Agencies
